Trevor Gellard - Brighton and beyond

Trevor Gellard was the guest at Guildford Photosoc yesterday evening. He presented a selection of his prints, mainly his repertoire of street photography. This included scenes of holidaymakers and events in Brighton, circuses and protests. Many of the candid photographs were taken with a neck slung camera with a wide angle lens.
Several techniques were interesting:
- Taking pictures of people watching a street entertainer.
- Photos of people in and around beach shelters taken through translucent glass.
In his digital photographs he often desaturates the background colours where these are bright and distracting. He also desaturates other images to provide a pastel colour instead of bright colours.
His sense of composition was excellent using a variety of different compositions. An inspiring evening.
